A Sneak Peek

This weekend I organized my craft room, after living here for over two years. (I mean, with major help from Jeremy and my friend Jen, too.) When you inherit pack rat tendencies from BOTH of your parents, it can become a problem. So I'm still not done, but I'm soooo close. And I'm really excited about it! I'll actually be able to make flower arrangements and wreaths and whatnots IN the room itself. Instead of grabbing the materials from the (storage) room and then proceeding to make a huge mess in our kitchen. Because there was really and truly barely room to walk in the craft room before. Sigh!

Here's a sneak peek of the "Before." I cannot believe I'm showing you this. My mother would be aghast. But I'm doing it because I've been completely inspired by "before and afters" on other blogs.

Totally excited to show you the "After" soon! Once it's completed. And it must be completed soon because we're having company staying with us next week...my good college friend Matt and his newish wife Julie, who I've never even met before! I'm pretty stinkin' excited about this, too. Craft rooms and company! Doesn't get better than this. =)

  1. I would LOVE to have a whole room for my craft and art supplies! I just have most of a sort-of-walk-in closet. :o) I'm excited to see your after!!

  2. I'm glad to know I have good company. I'm working on mine too. I've been in this house 3.5 years but three of those were spent in grad school and I didn't have time to go to the bathroom, let alone craft. Now I've been having so much fun crafting again I can't get to the organizing. Working on it though. Someday I'll share my before picture with you.

  3. Thanks, ladies! It is SO much better already, even if I left it just like it is. But there's still stuff out in the hallway, so I guess THAT won't do. =)

  5. Good luck! No matter how hard I try I can't keep my room organized and straightened up. When I'm working on a quilt piles of fabric end up everywhere and I have to reorganize the whole thing all over again. But it sure is great to have my own space where I can work.

  8. After many years, I've come to the conclusion that people with organized craft rooms don't really do crafts. Their hobby is organizing stuff with which crafts would be done if they did crafts. Oh my goodness. Please don't quote me!! It must be my "blizzard brown" talking.

    Best,
    Bonnie

  9. Kimberly - I thought so, too! Holding you guys in suspense...ha!

Cathy - I'm sure it's going to be the same way for me! But surely it won't be nearly as bad as it has been, even if will sometimes feel like fighting a losing battle. Yikes!

Brooke - hope the cake advice helps! =)

Melissa - you, of all people, need a craft room! Wait, I can't even imagine how much more you could do with a craft room. I'm not sure it's possible. ;)

Bonnie - you made me laugh really hard!! I love it! I believe this could be very true. Not many people are both artsy and organized. This reminds me that my dad used to have a mug that a very neat-freak colleague gave him. It said, "A clean desk is the sign of an empty mind." To this day (and I was there, just today) my dad's desk is evidence of a very busy mind!! =)
